HanziGo started with a simple belief: learning Chinese characters should feel like discovery, not memorization. Every character is a tiny picture with a thousand-year story — the sun 日, a mountain 山, two people sitting under a tree 休. We built HanziGo to tell those stories, one beautiful character at a time.

• Story-first learning. Every character comes with an etymology tale that makes it stick, not just a stroke count.
• Real stroke animation. Watch each stroke drawn in the correct order, then trace it yourself — the way it is taught in Chinese classrooms.
• Calligraphy at the heart. Chinese writing is one of the world's great art forms. Our practice desk lets you write with a pen or a pressure-sensing brush, and our gallery introduces masterpieces like Wang Xizhi's Orchid Pavilion.
• Free, no sign-up. Your streak, points and badges live in your own browser. No account, no email, no friction.

Today HanziGo offers a hand-picked set of essential characters organized into a quest path. We are steadily expanding toward the full set of ~3,000 characters needed for everyday reading, along with smarter quizzes, printable worksheets for offline practice, and deeper dives into calligraphy styles.
